In 2006, a journey began that would transform countless lives across the world. Cara Branson took her first steps onto Kenyan soil, not knowing that this trip would spark a chain of events leading to the creation of something extraordinary. Three years later, her sister, Sara Branson, followed in her footsteps, and together, they forged deep friendships with two remarkable men—Jerry Odhiambo and Joash Oluande.

Jerry and Joash, local Christians with an unshakable faith, shared a burning passion for ministry. Having grown up in large, low-income families, they knew the struggle of being denied an education. But instead of letting this setback define them, they found strength in their faith and a calling to serve others. Their experiences became the fuel for a mission that would empower those who, like them, had been overlooked by society.

The Bransons began leading teams from Oklahoma to Kenya, joining hands with Jerry and Joash in their ministry work. Their efforts caught the attention of Christa Baine in 2013 and Jeff Baldie in 2014, who eagerly joined the cause. Together, they raised awareness about the pressing needs in Kenya’s slums and rural villages, places where hope often seemed like a distant dream.

In 2016, a new chapter began when Jerry and Joash founded Light Mission Africa, a Community Based Organization with the powerful slogan “Love in Action.” That same year, the mission team from Oklahoma adopted a school ministry model, bringing life skill training and essential hygiene materials to students every month. Through the generous hearts of donors in the United States, land was purchased in Ugenya, where the construction of a learning center began—a beacon of hope that would be completed in 2017.

By 2019, the impact of their work was undeniable. During a summer trip to Kenya, Sara, Cara, Christa, and Jeff made a decision that would extend their mission far beyond the borders of Kenya. They founded Light Mission Alliance, a nonprofit organization in the United States, dedicated to spreading the same model of empowerment through education, discipleship, and sustainability to other struggling areas of the world. With a commitment to financial accountability, cultural sensitivity, and, most importantly, glorifying God, Light Mission Alliance was born, carrying the torch of love and service to those in need.
