Our Projects

The Learning Center

In 2017, the learning center was built to provide a safe place for students to come and work on schoolwork. Often times, multiple students in Kenya have to share one textbook. We opened the learning center and stocked it with 2 copies of each of the textbooks required by local schools for grades K-12. We have also installed solar power to allow students additional time at the learning center.

Monthly Trainings

Each month, our team travels to schools in rural Kenya and conduct school trainings. These trainings consist of topics such as leadership skills, self-defense, and goal setting. During these trainings girls are provided with pads to allow them the opportunity to stay in school consistently.

Tailoring Program

In 2022, LiMA launched our tailoring program in the Korogocho area of Nairobi, Kenya. Women living in this poverty-stricken area face many challenges, including unemployment, domestic violence, disease, and lack of access to education and educational materials. Our goal is to identify at-risk women in this area and empower them with the training they need to provide for themselves and their families. Selected women undergo six months of tailoring training, led by seamstress instructors. A weekly Bible study is another important part of this program. At the end of this six month training, LiMA’s goal is to provide each woman with their own sewing machine. We have received excellent feedback from women who have completed this program, and hope to continue to see each of our three pillars—Education, Discipleship, and Sustainability—implemented with the same amount of success in the future!

Jiggers Clinics

One of our newest projects that we have started are Jiggers Clinics. Jiggers are a small flea that burrow into people skin and cause people severe pain. Our team holds clinics where people can come and get treated for Jiggers with the proper medication. We also strive to provide a pair of shoes to each client to help prevent further cases from arising. Our goal is to eradicate jiggers in populated areas so these fleas are no longer a threat to people's well-being.

Christmas Meal Project

Christmas time can be a very stressful time for people living in the rural villages of Kenya. People from major cities return home to spend Christmas with their families. It is up to the families in the villages to feed their loved ones who have come to visit, which can cause financial strain. We partner with our donors to provide a meal for these struggling families. For every $30 donated towards this project, we are able to provide a family of approximately 7-10 people with a bag of groceries to make a Christmas meal! During Christmas of 2019, we were able to provide Christmas meals for 120 families (approximately 1,200 people!), and more recently in 2022, over 150 families received groceries for Christmas! Recipients also get to hear the amazing story of our Savior's birth and the true meaning of the Christmas season during the grocery distribution days!
